PLANNED ACTIVITIES IN 2011, 2012

THREE PRACTICAL WORKSHOPS
  • Workshops with different focus organized in the year 2011 in Austrian-Slovak cross-border region: Dolná Krupá-Trnava, Eisenstadt, Schloss Hof, Bratislava (focus on keyboard instruments, string instruments, wind instruments, editorial principles used in the “Wiener Edition Alter Musik” etc.)
  • One of the main goals is to enliven a way of authentic interpretation of Early Music (discussion on style interpretations, appropriate interpretation of period´s embellishments, activation of cultural-historical context in connection with the performance of musical pieces etc.)
  • Key feature is a popularization of the music edition “Wiener Edition Alter Musik“ that has been created from 1998 on at the Vienna music university (MDW)
  • Workshops give students an opportunity to perform with specialized ensembles on Early Music
  • Workshops give students the chance to experience a real recording situation provided by a highly professional music master team
  • Workshops consist of workshop lessons, rehearsals, final workshop concert and workshop evaluation
ONE THEORETICAL WORKSHOP
  • Basic and advanced knowledge of editorial techniques and problems with manuscripts and old printed editions
  • Principles of modern editions concerning Early Music
  • Historical context, different interpretation of Early Music manuscripts
MUSICOLOGICAL SYMPOSIUM AT THE VIENNA MUSIC UNIVERSITY (MDW)

Musicological symposium focusing on different Early Music topics with the participation of twenty musicologists from around Europe

TOPICS:

  • Current problems of Early Music interpretation, papers focusing on Early Music editions
  • Presentation of musicological research realized within the year 2011 at the Bratislava music university (HTF VŠMU)
  • Papers on Early Music focusing on Austrian-Slovak cross-border region
  • At the end of the symposium a festive lectors´ and students´ concert will be arranged
MUSICOLOGICAL SEMINAR "PRESENTATIONS-CONFRONTATIONS" AT THE BRATISLAVA MUSIC UNIVERSITY (HTF VŠMU)
  • Topic: “The influence of Slovakian music in Europe and the influence of European music in Slovakia in 15th -18th century”.
  • Seminar with the participation of international musicologists
  • Students workshops will be given within a seminar
MUSICOLOGICAL RESEARCH AT THE BRATISLAVA MUSIC UNIVERSITY (HTF VŠMU)
  • Musicological research will monitor a situation of the development of Early Music in the Slovak-Austrian cross-border region in the 15th – 18th century in areas which have not been researched up to now. One of the goals is to popularize composers who are less well-known today. This research will build a mutual Early Music cultural heritage. Research will also intensively point at the historical connection of the two music centers - Vienna and Bratislava. This will fill a gap in music historiography. Research outputs will be presented in a monography and two critical editions.
OUTPUTS
  • CDs, DVDs from workshops, proceedings of Vienna´s scientific symposium, report of Bratislava´s scientific seminar, monography of musicological research realized at Bratislava music university (HTF VŠMU) as well as the publishing of two critical editions. All these outputs will be presented as non-profit products.
